Gum Disease

Gingivitis (inflammation of the gum) as shown in this picture, is the first sign of gum disease. If left untreated, it could lead to periodontitis which is a more severe form of gum disease. This condition develops from long term exposure to bacteria and its toxins inside the gum. Over time, it destroys connective tissue and bone around the teeth. Excessive bone loss is irreversible and may lead to loss of teeth.  Gum disease is the leading cause of tooth loss in adults. Maintaining a routine daily brushing, flossing and six-month dental checkups with your dentist can easily prevent gum diseases' detrimental effects on your oral health.
