We all want to have a smile that we love! Unfortunately, certain factors and variables can get in the way of perfect teeth. This includes everything from genetics to poor dental hygiene. At Cohen Dental Care, our goal is to help New Yorkers in Briarwood, Great Neck, and the surrounding areas overcome these barriers and have a smile they want to show off. Although each individual’s situation is unique, we have several approaches to transforming smiles that fit a variety of people. If you have any questions about the following options, don’t hesitate to reach out!
Aligners
If your smile is crooked or has some spacing issues you would like to resolve, alignment treatments are a great place to start. In our offices, we offer Invisalign. Unlike traditional alignment treatments, such as braces and retainers, Invisalign offers discrete adjustments. This long-term approach involves wearing a plastic, clear device perfectly fitted to slip over your teeth. This device will gradually shift your current mouth shape into a more appealing smile. As your smile shifts, so will your plastic devices, until your teeth are formed into an aesthetically pleasing shape. Aligners are made for individuals of all ages who have fully developed their adult teeth. Working adults love the option because it can alter a smile without letting other people know they are having work done. On top of that benefit, they are completely removable, meaning that you can take them out to eat and clean, or before a big date or meeting. This is much more convenient than traditional options, but the results are just as effective!
Whitening
It’s amazing what just an hour in our offices can do! We offer patients two convenient ways to whiten up their teeth and expose a brighter, shinier smile. The first of these options is our highly popular in-clinic treatment, Zoom!. In just a matter of minutes, we can make your teeth multiple shades whiter by using this advanced gel and light system. The process is gentle on even sensitive teeth, and the results can last for months and are easy to maintain with continued good oral hygiene at home and regular clinic visits. For patients that prefer to whiten on their own time, we offer a take-home kit that is more powerful and effective than store brand strips and pastes. Even better, you can do your treatments at a time that is convenient to you and your busy schedule.
Veneers
Veneers are a great option for individuals with advanced tooth discoloration or multiple chips and cracks that are not advanced enough to need removal and replacement but still need care. You can think of veneers as a mask for your teeth. The process is straightforward; first, we take a measurement of your teeth that need to be covered and find a prosthetic match that is similar in shape and color to your natural tooth. Then, after they are carefully crafted in a lab, we apply them using a sturdy, cement-like glue that sticks well to both your natural tooth and the veneer that covers it. Because veneers are constructed from sturdy porcelain, with proper care, they are made to last for years. Veneers are perfect for individuals who have damaged teeth due to an accident, sporting events, or general wear and tear.
Dentures and Implants
In some cases, the above treatments just might not be enough to help reshape your smile. Never fret! In these situations, dentures and implants can be a life-changing procedure. When a tooth is beyond repair, an implant can take its place and offer stability. Implants are perfect for individuals who have just a few problematic teeth. First, we remove the damaged tooth or teeth. Then, we insert a metal rod into the missing space and attach a faux tooth, also known as an implant. These fake teeth are incredibly realistic and super strong, meaning many people don’t even notice others have them! In cases where multiple teeth have advanced damage, it’s often best to completely remove all teeth and use dentures or partial dentures in their place. Today’s dentures are nothing like what your grandparents had; they are comfortable and realistic.
